Spanish and possibly Somali and Amharic translators will be present, but child care will not be provided. A trainer representing the Math in Focus publisher will provide insight on the “bar modeling” concept — a basic component of the Singapore method-based Math in Focus texts, adopted by Seattle Public Schools in June 2014. The trainer also will review tips for helping students with homework and will walk parents through the concrete-pictorial-abstract progression concept within the texts.
