Important Dates

December 1st – 17th – John Rogers Winter Food Drive
Tuesday, December 9th, 6-7:30 pm – Community Meeting hosted by Sharon Peaslee @     Northgate Community Center
Thursday, December 11th   8:45 – 9:30 am – Principal’s Chat with Mrs. Mirabueno,
3:00 – 6:00 pm – Family Time in the John Rogers’ Library
December 18th – ****There will be NO PTA General Meeting****
December 19th – Early Dismissal – School will be dismissed at 1:50 pm
December 22nd – January 2nd – There will be no school.

 John Rogers’ Winter Food Drive
December 1st – 17th  Please help ensure all of our students and their families have the food they need during the two-week winter break in December.  All donations go directly to John Rogers families.  Please donate canned foods including soup, tuna, vegetables/fruit, chili and stew.  Other good choices include pasta, pasta sauce, rice, beans, lentils, cereal, peanut butter, dried fruit, shelf stable milk, granola bars, and holiday foods.  We could use hygiene supplies like soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste.  Or donate a gift card (Kroger or Grocery Outlet preferred).  Any questions about the food drive or if you would like to help, please contact Andrea Bergan at thebergans@comcast.net.  Thank you for your support!  If your family would like assistance from the food bank for winter break, please contact Mrs. Keene in the office by December 12th.

Family Time in the John Rogers’ Library
Thursday, December 11th from 3 to 6 pm  The John Rogers’ Family Engagement Team (FEAT) invites you to join us for family time in our school library.  Parents/adults join your children for some time reading, doing homework, using the computer or playing games in our wonderful John Rogers’ library.  Staff is available to help parents register for The Source and answer other questions about student/parent on-line educational resources.

Auction Committee Meeting!  Come One, Come All!!!
Januarry 22nd, 2015 7 pm @ Wong’s Restaurant: 9400 35th Ave NE, Seattle
** We will be discussing all things Auction!**
Themes – Decorations – Procurement- Class projects
We will be looking for volunteers to head up mini-committees, so if you are interested in leading or helping on a committee or the auction, but can’t make the meeting; contact Melissa Blumhagen mblumgahen7@gmail.com.  We are also accepting donations or if you know of anyone who would like to donate something, please feel free to contact Laura Teeuw laurateeuw@gmail.com.  It definitely takes many helping hands to make our auction a successful event; we are looking forward to seeing you on January 22nd!

Community Meeting Hosted by Sharon Peaslee
Tuesday, December 9th, 6 to 7:30 pm Northgate Branch Library, 10548 Fifth Ave  Sharon Peaslee, Seattle School District Board Director (District 1) is hosting a community meeting.  Some topics likely to be discussed are superintendent hiring, Growth Boundaries for 2015-16 and Transportation Service Standards for 2015-16.

Principal’s Chat
Thursday, December 11th, 8:45 to 9:30 am  Join Mrs. Mirabueno at John Rogers on Thursday morning for coffee and conversation.

Volunteer Opportunities
Ms. Teather and Ms. Manabe, our wonderful school secretaries, have asked if anyone in our John Rogers’ Community is able and willing to volunteer their time in the office.  They mainly need help with:
 Assisting students with injury and illness
 Assisting parents with questions
 Answering phones
Between the times of (in priority order):
 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
 8:30 am – 9:30 pm
