Book-It is returning to John Rogers!
On Friday afternoon, November 21st, John Rogers students will see a Book-It performance of Francisco Jiménez’s La Mariposa (The Butterfly).  Jiménez grew up in a Mexican migrant family; in La Mariposa, he tells the autobiographical story of his first year at school — a time when he knew little English.  We are delighted to announce that Book-It’s Arts & Education Program has produced La Mariposa as a bilingual play, performed in both English and Spanish.  All classes will hear and discuss La Mariposa in the school library prior to the Book-It event.  We expect to have seating available for parents and guardians who wish to join us for this special program.    Many, many thanks to the John Rogers PTA Enrichment Committee for bringing Book-It (and La Mariposa!) to our school.    La Mariposa, performed by Book-It Repertory Theatre Friday, November 21st at 1:15 pm John Rogers Lunchroom.
