DONATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 3RD!
THANK YOU to everyone for getting your donations in recently. However, we still haven’t reached our goal and will be extending the donation deadline through the end of this week, April 3rd. Please turn in your donations and contact your favorite businesses as soon as possible to ensure they make it in the auction! After April 3rd, items will be accepted on a selective basis only. Contact Laura Teeuw at laurateeuw@gmail.com with questions.

PROCUREMENT PRIZE DRAWING
All students of those who met the original donation deadline last Friday are entered to win. The winner of a fabulous teacher experience will be announced this week!

INVITATIONS ARE DUE APRIL 10TH (BEFORE SPRING BREAK)
Space at the venue is limited, so please buy your tickets before you head out on spring break to ensure you don’t miss out! Tickets are $35/person and can be turned in via kidmail or to the front office. Talk to your friends and put together a table of 8!
WINE DONATIONS
Please consider donating a bottle, case of wine or something in between to our auction. We need bottles valued anywhere from $10 to $30+ for both our wine toss game and to keep our guests bidding the night of the auction! Please contact Jamie Notzka at jpeanut@comcast.net with questions or to arrange pickup or leave your donations in the front office.

John Rogers Food Bank Donations Needed by April 3!

The John Rogers Food Bank needs donations of food and hygiene supplies for our spring break food baskets. These baskets assist John Rogers’ families during the week long break in April.

Please bring your donations to the donation bin outside the office or drop off with traffic volunteers by Friday, April 3. Gift cards to local grocery stores are appreciated as well. If you have any questions about donations or would like to help put together baskets, please contact Andrea Bergan at thebergans@comcast.net or (206) 817-1340.

If your family would like a basket for spring break, please contact Ms. Keene in the office by Friday, April 3.

FUN Needs You!

Seattle Audubon’s Finding Urban Nature Program (FUN) is an environmental science education program offered to 4th grade students at John Rogers, as part of their Science curriculum. There are four lessons taught in the Fall, and four more in the Spring. In FUN lessons, trained volunteers lead small groups of 4-6 children on explorations of their schoolyard habitat.

We are currently seeking one additional volunteer for our Spring FUN session!
FUN Training – Training is required for FUN volunteers.
Seattle Audubon is offering FUN training Saturday morning, March 28th, from 9 am – 12 pm. An alternative training session will be scheduled for any John Rogers volunteers who cannot participate in the March 28th training.
Lesson Dates and Times – FUN will be taught on Friday afternoons: April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, and May 15th. The volunteer time commitment is from 12:15- 1:45 pm.

Thursday, April 9, 6pm – 8pm

Come explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with special guests and hands-on activities for the whole family. Take apart electronics and find out how they work, play math games, and discover STEM with our special guests:

-Young Women in Bio (YWIB)
-Boeing
-The Future of Flight Foundation
-Audubon Society and Finding Urban Nature
– Atlantis ROV Team, high school international champion underwater robotics team

BTA IV Capital Levy

The BTA IV (Building, Technology, and Academics/Athletics IV) Capital Levy is in the early planning stages. It is possible that JR will be included in the levy!

Attend the NE Region BTAIV Levy Community Meeting on Monday, March 30th from 6:30 – 8 pm in the Nathan Hale High School lunchroom (10750 30th Ave NE). A large turnout from John Rogers’ families is critical! Wear your John Rogers gear!

What to expect? A presentation on BTA IV, and time for public input and questions. There will likely be comment card and/or a survey. It is important to fill these out, so that they get logged as official BTA IV community input.

The Year Book committee needs photos!

We are compiling photos of all the great kids at John Rogers. Now is the time to submit your photos of field trips, class events, school events, clubs, and kids on the playground or just sights from around the school. Simply submit photos via email to Oksana Zarodnyuk (zarodnyukok@gmail.com) or Robin Goodman (rgoody44@msn.com) or drop off a CD/zip drive (it will be returned to you!) in the PTA box in the office. Your photos will help secure this year’s special memories in the Year Book for the kids.

Swim Program Substitutes Needed!

John Rogers has an amazing group of parents working as lifeguards and instructors for our swim program. As we head into the final trimester (Mondays, 9:15-11:45 & Fridays, 9:15-11:15) of our swim lessons, we are in need of parents willing to be added to our instructor substitute list. If you would like to find out more about becoming a substitute swim instructor, please contact Robin Goodman (rgoody44@msn.com).

After School Enrichment Enrollment Information

Enrollment for after school enrichment at John Rogers has begun. Students must enroll prior to participating in the classes. There are several ways to do so:

1. Visit the Meadowbrook Community Center, 10517 35th Ave. NE, Seattle WA
2. Call the Meadowbrook Community Center at 206.684.7522
3. Online through SPARC at https://class.seattle.gov/parks/Start/Start.asp
4. On Monday, March 30 & Tuesday April 7 from 2:30pm to 3:20pm Meadowbrook CC Staff will be hosting a registration table in front of the office at John Rogers. Here you can register using check or exact cash only.

NEW Students: Must fill out an E13 Form, E13 Forms are located in the School Office
RETURNING Students: Should have an E13 on file
