Thank you once again to all of you who have been able to procure something for our auction this year. We are really excited about the items we have received. But we still need more! INVITATIONS DUE APRIL 10TH
Buy your tickets early as seats are limited! RSVP’S are due April 10th. If you cannot attend the auction this year, consider making a donation and checking with your employer for corporate matching programs.

WINE! WINE! WINE!
We still need all types of wine for our auction event. Wine donations also count for the procurement prize drawing! Contact Jamie Notzka at jpeanut@comcast.net with questions or to arrange pickup or leave your donations in the front office.

John Rogers Food Bank
The John Rogers Food Bank is in need of donations for spring break food boxes that will be provided to our families in need of assistance during the break in April. Non-perishable foods, hygiene items, cleaning supplies and gift cards are needed. A donation bin is located outside the office at school or contact Andrea Bergan at thebergans@comcast.net with questions. Thank you for supporting this important effort to ensure our students have enough food and snacks during spring break.
If your family would like a food basket for spring break, please contact Ms. Keene in the attendance office at (206) 252-4320 by Friday, April 3.

FUN Needs You!
Seattle Audubon’s Finding Urban Nature Program (FUN) is an environmental science education program offered to 4th grade students at John Rogers, as part of their Science curriculum. There are four lessons taught in the Fall, and four more in the Spring. In FUN lessons, trained volunteers lead small groups of 4-6 children on explorations of their schoolyard habitat. For more information, please see: Seattle Audubon website.

We are currently seeking one additional volunteer for our Spring FUN session!
FUN Training – Training is required for FUN volunteers.
Seattle Audubon is offering FUN training Saturday morning, March 28th, from 9 am – 12 pm. An alternative training session will be scheduled for any John Rogers volunteers who cannot participate in the March 28th training.
Lesson Dates and Times – FUN will be taught on Friday afternoons: April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, and May 15th. The volunteer time commitment is from 12:15- 1:45 pm.

John Rogers Day at the Mariners!!!
When:
Sunday April 26th at 1:10 pm against the Minnesota Twins
What: It’s Salute to Kids Day at Safeco Field and every child will receive a Kyle Seager Jersey t-shirt upon entry. Plus, every family can stay after the game to watch a special showing of The Lego Movie!
Cost: $15 per ticket (cash or checks made payable to John Rogers PTA)
Why: Come root on the Mariners with all of your friends from John Rogers! Also a portion of every ticket will go towards purchasing new playground equipment for our school.
All ticket orders are due back to school by Friday March 27th. Order forms went home via KidMail last week. Any questions contact Allison Van Doren at anvandoren@gmail.com. Go Mariners!

SEATTLE SPECIAL ED PTSA
SEATTLE SPECIAL ED PTSAis a Seattle School District PTSA whose purpose is to serve and advocate for all students with disabilities and their families. Meetings of the SPED PTSA are held monthly at JSCEE (John Stanford Center) 2445 3rd Ave S, Seattle, WA – Second Floor, Room 2700, 7:00-9:00pm.
The next meeting will be Monday, March 23. We will be discussing the state of SPED within the District, the RC-CAP, how Open Enrollment went for our students, Smarter Balance tests, and more.

BTA IV Capital Levy
The BTA IV (Building, Technology, and Academics/Athletics IV) Capital Levy is in the early planning stages. It is possible that JR will be included in the levy!
Attend the NE Region BRAIV Levy Community Meeting on Monday, March 30th from 6:30 – 8 pm in the Nathan Hale High School lunchroom (10750 30th Ave NE). A large turnout from John Rogers families is critical! Wear your John Rogers gear!
What to expect? A presentation on BRA IV, and time for public input and questions. There will likely be comment card and/or a survey. It is important to fill these out, so that they get logged as official BTA IV community input.

The Year Book committee needs photos!
We are compiling photos of all the great kids at John Rogers. Now is the time to submit your photos of field trips, class events, school events, clubs, and kids on the playground or just sights from around the school. Simply submit photos via email to Oksana Zarodnyuk (zarodnyukok@gmail.com) or Robin Goodman (rgoody44@msn.com) or drop off a CD/zip drive (it will be returned to you!) in the PTA box in the office. Your photos will help secure this year’s special memories in the Year Book for the kids.

Swim Program Substitutes Needed!
John Rogers has an amazing group of parents working as lifeguards and instructors for our swim program. As we head into the final trimester (Mondays, 9:15-11:45 & Fridays, 9:15-11:15) of our swim lessons, we are in need of parents willing to be added to our instructor substitute list. If you would like to find out more about becoming a substitute swim instructor, please contact Robin Goodman (rgoody44@msn.com).
