Curriculum Night/Family Open House Date Change

Thursday, October 15th 6 – 7:30  ***Please note that we have changed the date and time of our curriculum night.

It is now on October 15th from 6:00-7:30pm. As we continue to work towards making our school more inclusive to all of our families we have also changed the format of our curriculum night. We are going to have an open house, which will include inviting not just adults but also our students! Teachers will still provide families with information, like their daily schedule, for example, but our students will also lead you through their classroom and school routines and procedures. We look forward to having you join us at our upcoming open house.

Got stuff? (Saturday, October 3rd – mark your calendars!)

Consider donating it to the John Rogers PTA rummage sale!  We are currently accepting donations for our fall rummage sale.

Old toys and games (with all their pieces)?  We’ll take ‘em.  Books?  Send ‘em our way.  Clothes, bedding, linens, etc. (clean, with no holes)?  We’d love ‘em.  Doing some really late spring cleaning?  Just want to de-clutter?  Wondering how your stuff can benefit the school?  Wonder no more – we’ll take items that are in good working order, that you’ve outgrown, that you’re tired of but someone else will love!

Please contact Laura Spring (laura@springnet.org or 206-524-8865) or Andrea Bergan (thebergans@comcast.net or 206-985-8117) if you have items you would like to donate or if you are interested in helping with the rummage sale.  All proceeds will benefit the PTA general fund.

T-Shirt Sponsors Needed!

Calling all business owners and/or parents…our annual move-a-thon is coming up and we need your help.  This year, our goal is for every John Rogers student to have a T-shirt.  To accomplish this goal, we need 10 donations of $100 or more to help pay for the shirts.  With your donation, your name or business name will be listed on the back of each shirt as a sponsor.  John Rogers Elementary School PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  The PTA’s Federal Tax ID number is 91-1154646.  Please see your tax specialist for additional information.

Please contact Shannon Malloch shannonmmalloch@gmail.com or Taryn Kohno taryn.kohno@gmail.com to become a T-shirt sponsor.  Thank you for your support and for helping make the 2015 move-a-thon a success!

John Rogers Volunteer Opportunities! There are so many ways to help out!

Calling all Room Parents…

Now’s your chance to be the teacher’s pet! Your child’s teacher needs you this year. Be the point of contact between your child’s teacher, parents, volunteers, and the PTA. And, you don’t have to do it alone. Lots of classrooms have co-room parents. Being a Room Parent is a wonderful way to volunteer and to help support your child’s teacher. If you’re interested or have questions, please contact Christy Gardiner at christygardiner@yahoo.com.

We still need just a few more Traffic Volunteers… morning and afternoon shifts available

Traffic volunteers are needed each morning and each afternoon to get our children safely to and from their cars.

  • Time commitment is only 30 minutes ONCE A WEEK!  What a deal
  • You work in pairs or threes and have a chance to meet kids and parents in every grade.
  • A wonderful way to feel a part of the whole community here at Rogers.
  • Your choice of morning shift (8:20-8:50) or afternoon (2:35-3:05)
