NEEDED! YEARBOOK PORTRAITS!!

John Rogers Families!!!

Can a pandemic stop us from doing a school yearbook?  NO WAY! Since school looks a little different this year, so will our yearbook, and we need your help.  This year our yearbook will have student portraits submitted by families. Please read the below directions for how to submit your child’s photo.

Photos are DUE APRIL 30TH!

The guidelines for portraits are as follows:

  • Please don’t use creative filters, photographic treatments, or digital backgrounds.
  • Clothing, jewelry, accessories, and background should not include anything that goes against the school dress code.

SPS K-5 Asynchronous Learning, March 29-31

Dear Families of Students in Kindergarten-5th Grade,

We are excited to welcome students in kindergarten through 5th grade back to in-person learning on Monday, April 5. K-5 educators will begin health and safety trainings and preparing classrooms for students next Monday through Wednesday, March 29-31. During these days, educators will be in training and there will not be live instruction. Students will return to remote learning at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 1-2.

The Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction Department has developed the activities below for your student to participate in at home asynchronously while educators are preparing their classrooms for in-person instruction.

At Home Activities, March 29-31

REMINDER: To support students’ equitable access to in-person learning, we are taking the immediate step to increase yellow bus transportation and accommodate as many students as possible. This requires a change to elementary and K-8 bell schedules, school start and end times.

Elementary and K-8 schools will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. for students in both the remote and hybrid, in-person (part-time in person and part-time remote) models. This change will take place on March 29 for all elementary and K-8 students and continue through the end of this school year. *Subject to Board Approval this Wednesday, March 24

This change does not include 6-8th grade comprehensive middle schools. Comprehensive middle schools will continue to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Please visit www.seattleschools.org for the most up-to-date information about the return to in-person learning.

As a reminder, all K-5 students will have asynchronous learning on March 29-31 as teachers prepare to switch to in-person teaching or to teach new classes of students who will be staying remote.

In preparation for K-5 students who will begin returning to school in person on April 5, we encourage you to watch this video with your child about what the school day will look like. Day in the Life Video
