Headphone Drive
Coming up in March, our 3rd – 5th graders will begin taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.   Part of this assessment includes use of headphones.  While our school does have a class set of new headphones that we will be using, we are in need of more.  If you have a pair of clean, working headphones that could fit the heads of 3rd-5th graders and that you are no longer using, we would love it if you would consider donating them to our school.  We will have a donation box located in our office where you can donate the headphones.  Thank you!

Traffic Volunteers Needed
Morning and afternoon shifts available (some only every other week!).   To maintain the safety, we offer a car drop off and pick up…we need volunteers to fill the shifts.  Many of current volunteers are parents of older children who will be moving onto middle school, so we need a constant influx of new volunteers to keep the schedule full and the system working.  Please consider taking on a 30 minute shift every (or every other) week.  Contact Kristina Bartleton to get on the schedule.  thegalley@hotmail.com  or 206-949-0322

John Rogers’ Sweatshirt Pick up
Parents, come pick up your sweatshirt order afterschool on Thursday February 19th in Room 1 from 2:50-3:20 pm or before the PTA Meeting that evening in the lunchroom from 6:30-6:45 pm.   Please email Allison Van Doren (anvandoren@seattleschools.org) with any questions. Thank you for your order! Go Otters!

PTA Spring Grants
The John Rogers’ PTA is excited to be able to grant up to $2,000 for the 2014-15 school year…$1,000 was awarded in November and it is now time for the spring grant. As a reminder, grant requests are limited to $200, but multiple people (staff member or parents) may combine their requests for grants in excess of $200.  Requests must be submitted in writing to the PTA mailbox in the main office by 3:00 PM on Monday, March 2nd.   Applications are available inside the main office under the mailboxes.

SPS Technology Vision Town Hall Meetings
Seattle Public Schools wants to give everyone an opportunity to provide feedback and input into the district’s Technology Vision process. To accomplish this we are scheduling five “Town Hall” meetings around the district.  A meeting will be offered in each of the five major regions. The schedule is as follows:
NORTHEAST REGION: Monday, Feb. 23 at Eckstein Middle School cafeteria CENTRAL REGION: Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Washington Middle School cafeteria SOUTHEAST REGION: Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Rainier Beach High School cafeteria NORTHWEST REGION: Thursday, Feb. 26 at Ingraham High School cafeteria WEST SEATTLE REGION: Monday March 2 at West Seattle High School cafeteria  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. so that attendees can browse sample results from the Tech Summit. The structured meeting will begin at 6 to 8 p.m.
The more input we have from across the district; the more we can assure that we have a vision that meets the needs of all Seattle Public Schools students.  Supervised children’s activities will be provided. Translation services are available.  Interested individuals who are unable to attend any of the Town Hall meetings are encouraged to submit their vision, ideas, and comments to techvision@seattleschools.org.
