Did you know…

  • John Rogers Elementary began as “Matthews School” in 1953 and was renamed a year later.
  • It started as a cluster of ten portables needed to relieve overcrowding at a neighboring school.
  • John Rogers was the third Washington State governor from 1897-1901. The PTA supports a renaming of the school because of the bigoted beliefs of Rogers has come to light. Learn more about that here.
