The PTA is excited to announce the Annual John Rogers Move-A-Thon.

This year our fall fundraiser will be held in the afternoon of Friday, November 8th.  The Move-A-Thon will take place during school hours, between 1:15 – 2:15 PM on the playground and all students will be included

Thank you for joining us in this healthy and fun way to support enrichment programs like swim lessons, instrumental music, purchasing student supplies, and more. The PTA has set a target goal of $20,000. If we average $50 per student, we will easily reach our goal!

Pledge envelopes will come home with students after the assembly on October 23rd. Please help your students acquire their pledges!  Collect your pledges and return them in the envelope no later than Friday November 8th.

On Friday, November 8th, students will bring their completed pledge envelope to school and spend 60 minutes moving with their fellow classmates around the upper or lower track in whatever way they like – running, walking, wheeling, dancing, or skipping!  The number of completed laps or stations will determine who has earned the incentive reward (TBD), though just by participating, every student will be rewarded for their efforts with the Move-A-Thon T-shirt and positive praise from teachers, friends and families.

Methods of Donation Payments:

  1. By Check – Download and Return the  Move-A-Thon Pledge Form , plus a check for the grand total, made payable to John Rogers PTA, via kid mail (or dropped off in the main office).
  2. Donate directly through Paypal with your Credit or Debit Card.  Just click on the “Donate” button below.  No PalPal account required!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is my child required to turn in $50 in pledges? No. Though we are hoping that every child at John Rogers can collect at least one pledge, there is absolutely no requirement to do so. Every student will participate on event day, and every student will get a T-shirt as a thank you for moving for John Rogers!

Why don’t we call it a Walk-A-Thon or Jog-A-Thon?  Over the years we have observed that our kids enthusiastically participate with all kinds of movement. We have kids who roll in wheelchairs, who move with canes or walkers, and who run the laps. Sometimes we have movement stations where the kids can explore different ways they can move.  So, it makes the most sense to focus on any kind of movement, rather than just one.

Are the pledges tax-deductible or eligible for matching gifts? Yes. 100% of your donation is tax-deductible. Our school Tax ID number is 91-1154646. Please check with your employer to see if they offer matching funds.

Can I come and watch? Absolutely! The more support for our student’s the better!

The PTA seeks the help of local businesses in our community to support our fundraising efforts at John Rogers Elementary – this includes both our Move-A-Thon and spring auction. Your support will extend to both of these events, and get your businesses recognized in a variety of places, including directly on the back of our Move-A-Thon t-shirt!

NOTE:  On Move-A-Thon day, every child and staff member gets an official (student-designed) Move-A-Thon t-shirt, donated through Community Business Donations! Laps are tallied directly on the child’s shirt using permanent marker, making these shirts nothing short of memorabilia.
