Hunger Intervention Program (HIP)

The Healthy HIP Packs Program, a weekend food backpack program, provides an important food resource for John Rogers students who are at risk of hunger when school meals are not available.

HIP Packs provide nutritious and kid-friendly foods, enough for six meals and two snacks per child. When choosing foods to include in the pack, HIP creates complete meals and emphasizes whole grains, milk, high quality proteins, fresh fruits, and products with no added sugars. The packs are also a great way to share information with families on free community events, nutrition tips, and local resources.

Hunger Intervention Program provides meals and nutrition education to the Lake City community and beyond. For more information on ways to support the program or get involved please visit hungerintervention.org.

Children’s Home Society of Washington

Children are our most valuable and valued resource. At Children’s Home Society of Washington (CHSW), we see the promise and potential in every child. A dynamic leader in child welfare since 1896, we are Washington’s oldest and largest statewide non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children.

We provide exceptional programs and services to support children in need and strengthen families in 30 sites across the state. Our programs are shaped by 115 years of experience, a strong mission, and a commitment to meeting the changing needs of families in today’s complex world.

Our programs help to prevent or address the unique challenges facing our state’s most vulnerable children. We work to find best solutions for all the children we serve, supporting them when they remain with their biological families or when they must leave home. CHSW’s core services include: adoptionearly learningfoster care, family supportchild and family counseling, and advocacy.

Working in schools, community centers, and facilities across the state, CHSW staff and volunteers are turning the hope of a happy, safe childhood into reality every day.
