Meetings start at 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Free childcare is provided. You are not required to be a member of the PTA to attend our meetings – they are open to all!
Our November PTA Meeting will be Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 PM. Our special guests will include Paula Montgomery, the planning principal for the new Jane Addams Middle School opening next year and school board Director, Sharon Peaslee. This is an important opportunity for our parents to give comments/suggestions about our kids new middle school and also ask questions about what is already planned. We will also have a Principal’s Report from our own Sara Mirabueno. Free childcare provided (See PJ Night in the Library!).
This year John Rogers is excited to offer the “Jump Start” program to our incoming kindergartners. This free kindergarten transition program will be held August 19-23 from 9 AM to 12 PM each day. This program allows kindergartners to become familiar with the school and begin learning some kindergarten routines. They will also experience math, literacy, fine motor and problem solving stations.
Incoming kindergarten families should receive a letter from John Rogers during the first week of June. If you do not receive the kindergarten letter, please contact our school office.
The John Rogers staff and PTA invite you to join us as we honor and thank Mrs. Boyd for her 15 years as principal of John Rogers Elementary. Marcia is retiring after many years serving as an educator, mentor, leader and friend in the Seattle Public Schools. An all school assembly and reception will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 2:00 PM. John Rogers PTA members will be asked to vote on our proposed budget for the 2013/2014 school year at our PTA Meeting on April 23. The proposed budget was approved by our Board on 4/9/13. This budget proposal was prepared by our budget committee who spent many hours of hard work and discussion as well as time obtaining much input from families, staff and students. Thank you to our dedicated budget team: Paul Weinstein, Lisa Matsumoto, Robin Goodman, Kathy Goggins, Laura Spring and Andrea Bergan.
